So many things happening!

Why hello again, LucasArts fans. I’m quite happy to be writing another blog post after a  (semi-brief) hiatus. As we came into the new year, we wanted to take a step back, and rethink exactly what this whole ‘Workshop’ blog was really about.  Think about it – last year this blog kept you up to date on Monkey Island, Lucidity, Steam and Direct2Drive releases and more. That’s quite a bit of stuff to be throwing at you. And this year is shaping up to top all of that.

This first big announcement of the year is definitely something the fans will love – we’re throwing our efforts into providing you guys with an unexpected demand – Digital Swag. With our huge releases last year, there were tons of items you could get a hold of through Xbox Live. Lightsabers, Jedi outfits, shirts, and more.

And of course, once you give a mouse a cookie, it will ask for a glass of milk. And once you guys had your cookie, you began asking for all sorts of crazy items. We already had the lightsaber out there, thankfully (which was quite popular), but we were missing a whole group of you, and you let us know it. We were missing Playstation Home.

At least, until now. It is my honor to announce that LucasArts will be opening a storefront inside the mall within Playstation Home. Naturally, this is pretty big news to our fans. Bigger news is that we’re doing this tomorrow to coincide with the release of the final Force Unleashed DLC – Hoth. For those who didn’t pick up the epic Sith Edition, you’ll finally get to take Starkiller through the snowy world of the Rebellion and see some old enemies and friends – and throw them around like ragdolls.

So, with Hoth arriving on the 18th for PSN and the 24th for Xbox 360, we grabbed hold of this opportunity in the form of all sorts of crazy stuff. Take a look for yourself – below are the PlayStation Home goodies:

Yup, that’s right – no longer will you have to envy your Xbox 360 friends – you can now own your own lightsaber. Bonus points for anyone who choreographs a huge fight scene within Home itself. I imagine people doing the cabbage patch on the dance floor slicing through other dancers. Not that I condone such things.

Of course, there is much more to come. Besides the items above, we’ve got posters, banners, and all sorts of things coming down the pipe for our Playstation fans. And next week – I’ll just say keep an eye out for some other swag.  Like I said – this is shaping up to be a great year to be a fan of LucasArts.

How about some TFU (and TFU II) items for both Xbox LIVE and PSN. Maybe a Starkiller costume, a Darth Sidious costume or something EVERYONE would buy…a Darth Vader costume! A premium theme for XBL would also be nice. Oh! You should also release the TFU II teaser on XBL (and PSN if it’s not there).

You asked on Twitter what I would like to see on xbox love, here it is
    -X-Wing (with expansions, so collector’s cd-rom version)
-TIE Fighter (with expansions, so collector’s cd-rom version)
-Star Wars: X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter (with expansion BoP set)
    -X-Wing Alliance (1999) Windows

I know I would buy alot of the old games if they were either updated or playable on my xbox 360 (ie Bounty Hunter, Demolition, Master of Teras Kasi, Shadows of the Empire).

Hopefully 360 users will have access to the achievements now? What if we already played Hoth on Sith Edition? Will we have to replay it to get the achievements?

Seeing as how you’re a game company, why not, I dunno, focus on games? I have went to Home exactly once on my PS3, and that was once too many. Bring Monkey Island 2 and more classic games to XBLA & PSN please.

Hey, would you mind not announcing a level as exclusive to a version of the game and that it would never come out anywhere else, and then releasing it as DLC a few months later? Thanks!

When do we get a Monkey Island space in PS Home? it would be great to see a space based on the Telltale game assets. for that matter when do we get the SMI:SE on PSN? February is Heavy Rain, March is Blue Toad Murder Files, that leaves April for you guys to finally deliver! are you waiting for the one year anniversary of the release on other platforms or something?

PS: please deliver in 1080p native with losslessly compressed audio, 24-bit if possible!

GOG.com still definitely needs your backcatalogue, Lucas Arts. I don’t see a more perfect DD service for your classics.
