A little light listening music today.

Being Swedish, I think it’s awesome that this song is in the game, which I am very excited to play. Can’t imagine how exotic the song might sound to americans. 😀
Nice, soothing music. A bit too passive for normal listening for me, but it will probably work well in Lucidity. I did find the “crackling” in the background somewhat distracting to the soothing experience though, intentional?
Btw: good choice of music to adapt. The lyrics fit well to the theme of Lucidity.

I’ll let Jesse weigh in here but regarding the crackling effect, I remember that was intentional and was layered in by Jesse to give it that old time feel, as though being played on a gramophone.
I’m a vinyl junkie myself and there’s something soothing about the crackle of old vinyl that gives music an extra warmth!
I really like it. A very eerie, but soothing song. I ❤ the crackling. Gives it a more natural feel, like I just put this on my record player for a nice listening session while i read a book. I can't wait to hear more.

I pretty much figured the crackling was intentional, just wondered why it’s there. To me the volume of the crackling seems a little bit over the top, unless it’s there to prevent the music from becoming too soothing. I do see that others have different views though, so it might be because I’m used to a clean sound.
Oh, and don’t misunderstand me: I think this music is great. I’m just curious as to why it sounds like it does.

The vinyl crackle comes from some conversations that David and I had early on in the development of Lucidity. There’s a sense that the crackle gives of “age” to a track, that you’re not listening to the original or not listening to it being performed at that moment.
For me, the crackle also felt a bit like the crackle of a fireplace, something that Sofi might have at her Grandmother’s house. When I think of it as a fireplace crackle, I love the dichotomy it has with the cold gusts of wind that are also in the track.
For what it’s worth, I’ll wade into the crackle-debate! 🙂
I think that record crackle is probably something that definitely has a relaxing effect on me. But I think that it probably shows my age. My sister, 12 years younger than me, grew up in the CD/iPod age. I grew up in the tail end of the vinyl era. As such, my house was filled with vinyl. We didn’t get a CD player until I was 10.
The reason it’s relaxing is something that can only be understood if you’ve laid on the floor listening to a record that lulled you into a state of relaxation so long that the record ends and goes into the locked groove at the end. You just hear a loop of crackle over and over for as long as you lay there in a cozy endorphin puddle.
I would think that people who’ve had a similar experience associate the sound with relaxation even though it’s objectively a harsh crackle sound. Sorta like how the smell of coffee can pep up a coffee drinker even though objectively it smells kinda horrible (that is, until you’ve acquired the taste and love of it).

Wow! Cool song although a bit sad. I have a Swedish friend (not a cook though), and will ask him to translate the lyrics.

Great track! I am really digging the look and feel to Lucidity – can’t wait to actually play it. Any plans to release a soundtrack for the game (either for free, or for sale via iTunes)?

Would love to see a soundtrack for the game released. Just finished Lucidity and it was just what I needed at the moment, short, sweet and enough fantasy to keep a smile on my face 🙂
