Lucidity prop studies
Check out these color-riffic prop studies of Sofi. If only this one were a giant poster. “We used these paint sketches to help decide what Sofi was going to carry. We ended up choosing the backpack because of Sofi’s size on screen; we wanted to make sure her prop was readable,” says Andrea Rhodes, concept artist for Lucidity.
David Nottingham adds, “Jeff Sangalli and I both loved the hair in these pieces, but when we reviewed it with the animator he almost passed out. We had to be very careful with the final model, so that different pieces of the character model didn’t collide with each other and create ugly popping. The hair and backpack both needed further iteration to avoid this.”
